- cable modem
- high speed internet service that is run through your local cable companys lines to your computer
- dialup subscriber lines (dsl)
- is a high speed internet line that runs through regular lines. also referred to as an always on connection because you dont have to disconnect from it in order to use your phone

- a highlighted or underlined word or graphic on a web page that leadsd to another web page. it links the webpages together

- what allows the user to get online. typically includes a login, password, and email address. set up throught your isp

- an oganized/business that provides access to the internet. some better known isps include aol,msn and yahoo. they allow you to access their server that is connected with the other computer networks or the internet

- a conputer that stores imformation that can be accessed via the internet. when users connect to a server they can access programs,files,and other imformation from the server. common servers are web servers, mail servers, and lan servers
