Photosynthesis
The process by which some organisms use light energy to make nutrients.
Physical change

Physical property
A characteristic of a substance that can be observed or measured without changing the identy of a substance.

A visual display that uses symbols or pictures to represent a numerical value.

Plankton
Tiny organisms that are moved by ocean currents. Baleedn whales eat these.
Plate tectonics
The theory stating that the earth is broken into giant chuncks of land or ocean floor that can slowly move. Plate tectonics cause continal drift.

Pollution that comes from a single well identified source.
Pollutant
Any substance or form of energy that can cause harm to the enviorment and make it unfit for use by organisms.
Potency
Strength or how powerful a chemical is.
Ppm
Parts per million. A unit used to express the concentration in a solution.
Ppb
Parts per billion. A unit used to express the concentration in a solution.
Precision
The consistency of a set of measurments.
Prediction
A statement suggesting what might happen in the future based on patterns in data and experiences.
Pesticides
Chemicals designed to kill organisms (insects, weeds, rodents) that are concidered pests.
pH
The measure of how acidic or basic (alkaline) a substance is. pH stands for " Powers of Hydrogen "
