- Alphabetic Principle
- This links the sound to the letter as we bring in a visual and link it to the sound. This follows after the phonemic awareness and phonological awareness have been created. To do this we might have "F" week in our class.
- Fluency
- The clear, easy, written or spoken expression of ideas.
- Phonemic Awareness
- Helps kids become aware of the sounds of our language (g, pa, ph, th, ba, sh). To work with kids you might say a word (five) and then indentify all of the sounds in the word - f,i,ve. This is is a sound activity - no reference to letters - it could be

- These are the rules about how our sounds and syllables work together. Developing readers need to learn these and learn the words that operate as exceptions to these rules.
