Galon
A greek doctor- he advanced the frontiers of medical science by insisting on experiments to prove a conclusion. He also compiled a medical enclopedia that remained in its standard text for 1,000.
Aqueduct
Are bridgelike stone structures that brought water from the hills into the Roman cities.
Pantheon
This is Romes most famous domed structure, a temple to all the Roman gods (it still stand today).

To make fun of- The roman poets satirised the Roman Society.
Greco-Roman Civilization
The Romans first adsorbed ideas from the Greek colonists in S Italy, and even after Rome conquered Greece.This led to the blending of Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman traditions known as the Greco-Roman Civilization.
Law of Nations
The second system of laws that replaced the civil law ( bec it ruled out many foriegners) ;it aplied to all people under roman rule ( citizen or not). Eventualy these 2 systems merged when Rome expanded citizenship across the whole empire.
Virgil (Poetry)
Wrote an epic poem called the AENEID; it potrays Romes past as a heroic one just as that of the Greeks. This poem was written after Augustus came into power.His hope was that it would arouse patriotism & help unite Rome after yrs of civil war.
Engineering
The application of science and mathamatics to develope useful structures & machines.(ROman Engineering built harbors, roads, bridges and aqueducts thoughtout the Roman Empire).
mosaic
A picture made from chips of colored stone or glass( this is in conjuction with Roman Art-- Romans beutified their homes(Pompii- city burried by volcanoe).
Civil Law
During the republic this system of law applied to Roman citizens.
Livy (History)
A Rome historian who sought to rouse patriatic feeling& restore Traditional virtues of the Romans by recalling the heroic images of Romes past( gr8t heroes as Horatius, and Cincinnatus).
