- discuss large signal DC circuit models
- three large DC circuit models, active region, saturation region, and cutiff region models. active:base emitter junction is forward biased, base collector junction is reverse baised. Saturation: both junctions forward biased. Cutoff region: both junctions reverse biased
- Where do you use transistors
- transistors are used in amplifiers and logic gates
- "soup up your automobile by changing its software
- electrical parts do not wear out like mechanical parts can do. ROM's can be loaded with engine control software to optimize engines
- where do you use a integrator circuit
- useful in instrumentation applications like an accerelerometer
- where do youse differential and instrumental amplifiers?
- used in engineering instrumentation
- Discuss the advantages/disadvantges of "integration simulation technology into the engineering curriculum?
- Adv: allows students to get used to working with high technology software. imparts concepts rather than skills, most students say case studies are favorite parts of the course. Dis: it takes time to do all of theses things and engieering students are already overworked
- Where do you use active filters
- useful in separating desired signals from noise like in noise reduction software for audio
- where do you use operational amplifers/
- operational amplifers are used in a wide range if engineering instrumentation
- why study chapter 13?
- understand bipolar junction transistor operation in amplifer circuits. use load line technique to analyze simple amps and understand causes of nonlinear distortion. use large signal equivalent circuits to analyze BJT circuits. anaylze BJT circuits. use small signal equiv circuits to anaylze BJT amps
- Where do you use common-emitter amplifers? Emitter followers
- Common emitter amplifiers are used when you want a high voltage and current gains. Emitter followers are used when you want no voltage gain and a large current gain
- Observe nonlinear limitations?
- nonlinear imperfetions occir in output voltages swing, output current limits, slew rate limitation, and full power bandwidth
- what is BJT? what are emitter, base and collector?
- BJT bipolar junction transistor are constructed as layers of semiconductor materials doped with suitable impurities. The layers called the emitter, the base and the collector.BJTs are useful in amplifiers and digital logic circuits.
- where do you use amplifers? small signal equivalent circuits?
- amplifers are usde to increase the output of signla from most sensors like strain gages or flow meters
- Where do you use Bipolar Junction Transistors?
- BJTs are used in amplifers and logic circuits and are the key building blocks for modern electronics.
- Where do you use large-signal DC circuit models? where do you use small-signal equivalent circuit models?
- Large signal DC circuit models are used in the anaylsis or design of BJT amplifer circuits. Small signal equivalent circuits are used in the analysis of the signal currents and voltages in the BJT circuit.
- where do you use CMOS?
- COMS gates are the basic building blocks of digital systems and can be constructed with transistors. modern technology uses CMOS gates in computers
- where do you observe op-amp imperfections?
- op-amp imperfections occur input and output impedence, gain and bandwidth limitations, closed loop bandwidth and gain bandwidth product
- what is operation amplifiers. what are integrated circuits?
- operational ampilifer-a differential amplifier having both inverting and noninverting input terminals. Integrated circuits-op amp components are manufactured concurrently on a single piece of silicon crystal by a sequence of processing steps
- where do you use common source amplifers? source followers?
- common source amplifers are used when you need freedon in design of the input resistnace to the amplifers. source follwers can be ised to obtain low output resistance.
- describe fluid flow analogy for BJT
- BJT are analogous to a valve
- where do you sued inverting amplifers, noninverting amplifers? simple amplifers?
- inveriting amplifers are used in the basic inverter. noninverting amplifers are used in voltage followers. simple amplifiers are used in resistive feedback networks
- Disucuss the practical application of Power Steering
- Auto power assisted steering systems use negative feedback. there is negative feedback from the booster cylinder through the mechanical linkage back to the control valve. as the steering wheel is turned, the wheels move a proportional amount
- Observe DC imperfections?
- DC imperfections occur in bias current, offset voltage and offset current. the effect of these adds an undesirable dc voltage to the intended output
