vicksburg
The union forces wanted to capture Vicksburg in order to control to Mississippi River. (Union) Gen. Grant surrounded Vicksburg and bombed it for a month. The people and Confederate soldiers starved until they surrendered.

Southern General under the command of Robert Lee whose troops refused to retreat at first battle of Bull Run
France and Britain
The south hoped that they would help but they didn't. The only thing that Britain did was allow the south to build ships in British ports.
Battle of Antietam
Civil war battle in in maryland in 1862. Lee was trying to invade the north bloodest day of the civil war 26,000 casulties.
