- Electoral college
- body of electors chosen to elect the President and Vice President of the United States.
- Elector

- an order issued by a government's executive on the basis of authority specifically granted to the executive branch
- Reprieve
- Postponement or cancellation of a punishment
- Amnesty
- A general pardon granted by a government, especially for political offenses.
- Pardon
- To release (a person) from punishment; exempt from penalty: a convicted criminal who was pardoned by the governor.
- Foreign Policy
- The diplomatic policy of a nation in its interactions with other nations
- National Security
- collective term for the defense and foreign relations of a country, protection of the interests of a country
- Treaty
- The document in which such an agreement is set down
- Executive Agreement
- An agreement made between the executive branch of the U.S. government and a foreign government without ratification by the Senate.
- Ambassador
- A diplomatic official of the highest rank appointed and accredited as representative in residence by one government or sovereign to another, usually for a specific length of time
- Trade Sanction
- A trade penalty imposed by one nation onto one or more other nations
- Embargo
- A government order prohibiting the movement of merchant ships into or out of its ports.
- Cabinet
- often Cabinet A body of persons appointed by a head of state or a prime minister to head the executive departments of the government and to act as official advisers
- Attorney General
- Attorney General The head of the U.S. Department of Justice and a member of the President's cabinet
- Independent Agency
- an agency of the United States government that is created by an act of Congress and is independent of the executive departments
- Government Corporation
- an invisible, intangible, artificial creation of the law existing as a voluntary chartered association of individuals that has most of the rights and duties of natural persons but with perpetual existence and limited liability
- Civil Service Worker
- Those branches of public service that are not legislative, judicial, or military and in which employment is usually based on competitive examination.

- Spoils System
- The postelection practice of rewarding loyal supporters of the winning candidates and party with appointive public offices.
- Merit System
- The system of appointing and promoting civil service personnel on the basis of merit rather than political affiliation or loyalty.

- War Powers Act of 1973
- Under article I, section 8, of the Constitution, it is specifically provided that the Congress shall have the power to make all laws necessary and proper for carrying into execution, not only its own powers but also all other powers vested by the Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any department or officer thereof.
- Camp David
- A presidential retreat in the Catoctin Mountains of northern Maryland north-northwest of Washington, D.C. It was established by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942 as Shangri-La. Dwight D. Eisenhower renamed it Camp David in honor of his grandson.
