Verbs
A verb is a word that describes action, a state of being, or what is being done to something or someone. To laugh, to think, to drive, to run, to be, to do
Resolution
The resolution tells how the climax was resolved and follows the falling action.
Antagonist
The principal negative character in opposition to the protagonist or hero of a narrative or drama. (The bad guy.)
Interpretive Questions
"Author and You" "Think and Search" Develop and maintain a text-based discussion. Focus discussion on specific pasages relating to: 1. Character development, 2. Theme development, 3. Symbolism, 4. Figurative language, 5. "Deep Thought" passages, 6. New Vocabulary.
Subject
Tells whom or what the sentence is about (contains the noun) Example: ONE PERSON was at the party.
Plural Possessive Noun that ends in an S
Shows ownership by more than one person or thing. To form the possesive of a plural that ends in s, add an ( ' ). Examples my friends' parents, my teachers' classes, my shoes' laces.
Exposition
Introduces the story and the setting of the story.
Possessive Noun
Shows ownership or possession, a person, place, or thing that shows ownership of something
Fact Questions
"Right There" There is one answer in the text. Used for to warm up for discussion. Reviews the facts, introduces new characters, reviews most important events.
Evaluative Questions
"On My Own" There are many possible answers the come from comparing personal experience with the text. Used to warm up or conclude discussion. You can share general opinions and feelings about the text; share personal connections to the text; allow the discussion to move away from the text (no text reference is required for this.)
Singular Possessive Noun
Shows ownership by one person or thing. To form the possessive add an ( ' ) and s. Examples: aunt's house, son's bedroom, mom's rules.
Pronouns
Take the position and function of nouns but do not specifically name them - He, she, it, they, him, her, them
Protagonist
The main character of a story; its central positive character who engages the reader's interest and empathy. (The main good guy.)
Adjectives
Word used to modify or describe a noun or pronoun, such as "happy," "sad," or "pretty."

Climax
The climax (or "turning point") of a narrative work is its point of highest tension or drama in which the solution is given
Character
A person or persona portrayed in a story or drama.
Falling Action
The falling action follows the climax. Therefore, it deals with the effects that the climax has on the characters
Rising Action
Is the series of events that lead to the climax of the story, usually the conflicts or struggles of the protagonist.
Predicate Adjective
adjective that follows a linking verb and modifies the subject of the verb.
Conflict
Opposition in a work of drama or fiction between characters or forces (especially an opposition that motivates the development of the plot).
Predicate
Tells something about the subject (contains the verb) Example: One person WAS DANCING.
Plot Structure
Contains the framework of the story tells you about the exposition, rising action, the climax, the falling action, the resolution. It also tells you who the main characers are, the protagonist and the antagonist.
Plural Possesive Non that does NOT end in an S
Shows ownership by more than one person or thing. To form the possessive of a plural nown that does NOT end in an S, add an ( ' ) and s. Example: The men's shoes, the mice's cheese, the women's skirts, the oxen's straps, the children's books, sheep's grass.

Modfies verbs, adjectives, other adverbs, or entire clauses, they often answer of the following questions: How, When, Where, Why, To what extent?
