- Jazz Age
- Jazz was created in New Orleans in the 1920s. It added a dash from the spirituals of the black Protestant churches. It was basically comprised of black musicians. The first jazz was played by funeral bands following the hearses down the streets of New Orleans. Jazz is unique - an American original. Not African. Not European. Louis Armstrong was one of the jazz greats. It ended when the Depression hit, but jazz, itself, continued.
