- Input Devices
- Enables the user to input data and commands into the computer.
- Virus
- Computer programs thats written to cause corrupition of data
- Function Keys
- Keys on the keyboard that are used to give commands to the computer.
- Keyboard
- Device that allows a user to enter text and simple commands.
- USB ports
- an new type of port that's taking the place of all the other ports more powerful and versatile than parellel ports.
- Serial Ports
- Ports used to physically connect input and output devices to the computer. Serial Ports transmit data one bit at a time
- Touch Screen
- Input device where you use your fingers to "point" to an object on the screen
- Trackball
- Pointing device that works like a mouse turned upside down; controls the movement of the on-screen pointer
- Parellel Ports
- Ports used to physically connect and input and output devices to the computer. Parellel ports transmit data eight bits at a time
- Resolution
- The number of pixels or dots that a monitor can display
- CD-ROM
- Disk that can store up to 680MB of data; data can only be read from it.
- DVD
- Also called Digital Versatalite Disk; Full length movies can be stored on this medium
- Flash Drive
- Portable storage device that plugs into a USB port.
- Voice recognition
- Input devices to use to "speak" commands into the computer and to enter text
- Hard Drive
- Contained in with your computer's tower, the hard drive provides the pc's main storage area. Ot contains My Documents and all the other folders and programs on the C: drive
- Output Device
- Devices that enable the computer to give the user the results of the processed data.
- Malware
- A type of computer program used by Hackers and unscrupulous advertising agencies to spy on computer users. These programs make computers less eficient and slow sometimes provides thieves with important info. They can also "hijack" a computer and use it to crash a website without the computer's owner's knowledge
