the amount of change in intensity of stimulation needed to produce jnd is a constant fraction of the original status
sensory adaptation
the tendency of sensory receptors to respond less and less to an unchanging stimulus. Lets us detect potentially important changes in our enviorment while ignoring unchanging aspects of it.
