gymnosperms
Vascular plants in which the seed is enclosed inside a fruit.
Angiosperms
Have one seed leaf inside their seeds
monocots
Have two seed leaves inside their seeds
dicots
Made up of tubular vessels that transport water and minerals up from the roots throughout the plant.
xylem
These cells move food from leaves and stems, where it is made, to other parts of the plant for direct use or storage.
phloem
Tissue that produces new xylem and phloem cells.
cambium
They allow carbon dioxide, water, and oxygen to enter and exit a leaf.
stomata
These open and close the pores.
guard cells
The female reproductive part of the plant.
ovule
These structures contain sperm, and they develop on the smaller male cones.
pollen grains
The male reproductive organ of the flower.
stamen
The female reproductive organ of a flower.
pistil
This is the swollen base of the pistil where ovules form.
ovary
The transer of pollen grains from the stamen to the stigma is this process.
