- Baseline
- the baseline after the t wave represents the period when the entire heart returns to its resting, or polarized state.
- dysrhythmia
- an irregual heart rhythm
- T wave
- the T wave represents the electical recovery of the ventricles, or ventricle repolarization. the muscle cells are recovering in preparation for another impulse
- S-T wave
- the S-T segment represents the time interval from the end of the ventricle depolarization to the beginning of repolarization of the ventricles
- Q-T interval
- the Q-T interval is the time interval from the beginning of the ventricular depolarization to the end of repolarization of the ventricles
- P-R wave
- the P-R wave interval represents the time interval from the beginning of the atrial depolarization to the beginning of the ventricular depolarization
- p wave
- the P wave represents the electrical activity associated with the contraction of the atria, or atrial depolarization
- interval
- the length of a wave or the length of a wave with a segment
- U wave
- Occasionally a U wave follows a T wave. It is a small wave that is associated in some as yet defined way with repolarization
- electrolyte
- a chemical substance that promotes conduction of an electical current
- QRS Complex
- The QRS complex represents the electrical activity associated with the contraction of the ventricles, or ventricular depolarization and consists of the Q wave, the R wave and the S wave
- Atherosclerosis
- Buildup of fibrous plaques of fatty deposits and cholestrol on the inner walls of the coronary arteries
- electrode
- a conductor of electricity which is used to promote contact between the body and the elctrocardiograph
- Normal heart rate
- ranges from 60-to 100 beats per min
- Cardia cycle
- one complete heartbeat
- segment
- the portion of the ECG between two waves.
- artifact
- additional electrical activity picked up by the electrocardiograph that interferes with the normal appearance of the ECG cycle
- Electrocardiograph
- the instrument used to record the electrical activity of the heart
- ECG cycle
- the graphic representation of the electical activity of the heart
- amplitude
- refers to amoun extent size abundance or fullness
- normal sinus rhythm
- refers to an electrocardiogram tha is within normal limits
