- Virginia Colony
- Merchants and adventurers looking for profit from the land made the colony. The colony used slave labor. The house of Burgess could make decisions and levy taxes, but the English government could veto them easily.
- Massachusetts Bay Colony
- Created by Puritans escaping the church of England. Men of the family tilled their fields. Most power was given to the local town representatives instead of the English Government.
- Salutary Neglect
- A British policy letting the colonies have less restrictive parliamentary laws, allowing for the colonies to flourish.
- Pontiac's Rebellion
- 1763-1766 war between tribes of the great lakes area and British about British post french-indian war policies. Ended in stalemate.
