- ampere
- The basic unit of electric current in the metric sys; abrreviated A. one A= movement of one coulomb of charge per second
- battery
- A series of dry cells
- cell
- A devide that uses either a chemica charge to product electric energy or uses electric energy to make a chemical charge
- charged
- A word used to describe an object with more of one kind of elec. charge than other.
- closed circuit
- a continuous connection of conductors from one end of an electrical source to the other.
- conductor
- A substance through which electric charges can move easily
- coulomb
- a unit of electric charge equal to 6.25x10 to the 18th charges.
- current
- a movement of electric charges; usu. due to moving electrons
- electricty
- energy in the form of electrons that can move along a conductor, that can be changed into heat, light, mechanical or electrical charge
- electroscope
- a device used for detecting electrical charge.
- filament
- the small, fine wire inside a lightbulb

- ohm
- the SI unit of resis
- open circuit
- an incomp circ. due to break in continuous connection o conductors from one end of elec. source to other
- parallel circuit
- a circuit having two or more paths through which elec. can flow
- positive terminal
- the pt. of a dry cell or battery toward which electrons move
- resistance
- the measure of how hard it is for an elec. charge to move through a conductor
- series circuit
- an elec. circuit that contains a single path with no branches, so that the same current passes through all the conductors in the circuit
- short circuit
- a dangerous cond that results when the pt. of an elec. circuit with the most resis is bypassed
- static charge
- a positive or negative charge thats not moving
- volt
- the SI unit of voltage: V
- voltage
- the amount of energy supplier per unit of elec. charge by a cell or battery ("push" on ea. electron)
- voltage drop
- tge amount of energy removed per unit of elec. energy by passing through a conductor (or resis)
- voltmeter
- a device that measures voltage drop
- watt
- the basic unit of elec. power in the metric sys: abbreviated W
