- Whole numbers

- Integers
- are all of the whole numbers and their negative counterparts
- Rational numbers
- nubers that can be written as a fraction
- Counting Numbers
- 1,2,3,4 (0 is not a counting number)
- Absolute Value
- Think of as the distance from zero on the number line.
- Additive Identity Property of Zero
- This rule says that by adding zero to any number it will not change the value of the number.
- Commutative Property for Addition and Multiplication
- This states that the order in which numbersare added or multiplied does not determin the sum or product. Division and subtraction are not commutative
- Distributive property of multiplication over addition
- This means that a(b+c) = (axb)+(axc)
- The Property of Reciprocals
- States that any number (except for zero) multiplied by its reciprocal gives 1. The reciprocal of a number is 1 divided by that number.
- Multiplicative Identity Property of One
- This means that any number multiplied by 1 gives you the answer 1.
