- Cell Theory, 3 statements.
- All organisms are composed of 1 or more cells, the cell is the basic unit of organization in an organism all cell come from preexisting cells
- Prokaryote
- Bacteria; cell that lacks internal structures surrounded by membranes
- Eukaryote
- cell that has internal structure-bound structures called organelles
- Organelle
- membrane bound structure in a eukaryote cell that preforms specific jobs for the cell
- Cytoplasm
- a clear-jelly like fluie within the cell where important chemical reactions like the making of protein take place
- Golgi apparatus
- recieves useable proteins and lipids from e.r. and distributes them to other organelles
- vesicles
- membrane-bound packages that contain proteins
- vacuoles
- store everything but protein (animals have many small vacs, plants have 1 large vacs)
- lysosomes
- garbage disposal cells, they contain digestive enzymes that diges worn out parts ex. tadpoles tail.
- mitochondria
- organelles in which food molecules are broken down to release energy. has outer membrane and folded membrand; produces molecules to store energy
