- set up a controlled experiment
- is one where comparisons are veing made between that would be considered the normal condition (the control) and oneor more situations where a single condition or variable has been changed (the experimental groups)
- RAD (radiation absorbed dose)
- the amount of radiation absorbed by a living organism.
- qualitative
- A visual inspection of the various treatment groups placed next to each other to record the differnces.

- domain
- all living divided into three major categories(Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukarya)
- Bacteria and Archaea
- simple, single-celled organisms that lack a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles.
- prokaryotic
- pro=before, karyotic = nucleus. Bacteria can be found in and on almost any structure - in the soil, in the water, in our intestine.
- Eukarya
- consists of sukaryotic organisms that are further divided into four kingdoms: Protista, Fungi, plantae, and Animalia based on their level or organization and mode of nutrition.
- chemosynthesis
- bacteria obtain their energy by breaking sown inorganis compounds such as hydrogen sulfide and ammonia.
- Cyanobacteria
- bacteria that resemble algae and plants in that they have photosynthetic pigments that are used to capture light energy to make thier own food.
