sexual reproduction

Combining the genetic material or two individual of the same species to produce similar but no identical offspring.

Based on: special types of cell divisions called meiosis to produce gametes

Asexual reproduction

uses the genetic material of ones individual to produce identical offspring

based on: normal cell division, called mitosis

Mitosis
process by which a cell reproduces itself to produce two identical daughter cells
Meiosis
process by which a cell reproduces itself to produce four unique daughter cells called gametes
diploidy
having two of each chromosomes
Binary Fission
mitosis that produces two identical daughter cells
Budding
mitosis producing daughter cells of unequal size, the larger daughter cell continues dividing. Budding helps some organisms increase their population faster than binary fission
sporulation
mitosis producing specialized daughter cells that only grow and divide if conditions are appropiate
regeneration
production of new organisms from severed parts of the single parent
vegetative propagation
production of new organisms from leave, stem or roots of the single parent plant
