Genre that uses magic/supernatural as a primary element of plot, theme, setting
Folktale
Epic, legend, myth, song, poem, fable, that has been retold within a culture for generations
Frame Tale
Story within a story
Historical Fiction
Set in some earlier time and often contains historically authentic people/places/events
Horror
Intended to frighten, unsettle, or scare the reader --> often incorporates science-fiction and fantasy
Legend
About human actions that s perceived by both the teller and the listeners to have taken place within human history and possess qualities that give it the appearance of truth/reality
Mystery
Suspenseful story that deals with a puzzling crime
Myth
Involves gods/heroes/a theme that expresses a culture\'s ideology
Novel
Extended fictional prose
Novella
Short narrative (approx 50 pages)
Parody
Text/performance that imitates and mocks and author or work
Romance
Idealized events far removed from everyday life (Gothic/medieval)
Satire
Makes fun of social conventions or conditions --> tries to evoke change

Deals with current or future development of technology
