Potential Difference (V)
a measure of the potential energy due to the separation of charges (Volts).
Capacitance (C)
the ratio of the amount of charge stored on the plates (Q) and the potential difference (V) across the plates (Farads).
Current (I)
the movement of positive charges per unit of time (Amperes).
Conductance (g)
indicates the capacity of an object to transmit a current (Siemens).
Resistance (R)
the reciprocal of conductance.
Capacitor
two conducting plates separated by an insulating layer and can store charges of opposite sign.
Battery (E)
drives a current around a closed circuit from its positive to its negative terminal.
Ohm's Law
V = IR
Voltage Divider
a series combination of conductors.
Farad (F)
the unit of measurement for capacitance.
Ampere (A)
the unit of measurement for current.
Siemen (S)
the unit of measurement for conductance.
Volt (V)
the unit of measurement for potential difference; indicates work done (J) to move a charge (C) between two points.
