- TOWNSEND ACTS
- series of acts passed beginning in 1767 by the Parliament of Great Britain relating to the British colonies in North America. The acts are named for Charles Townshend, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, who proposed the program. Historians vary slightly in which acts they include under the heading "Townshend Acts", but five laws are frequently mentioned
- BOSTON MASSACRE
- MARCH 5, 1770 – tensions are heightened at this point. Lord North drops the Townsend Acts except for the tax on tea.....was an incident that led to the deaths of five civilians at the hands of British troops on March 5, 1770, the legal aftermath of which helped spark the rebellion in some of the British American colonies, which culminated in the American Revolution.

- Britain’s disadvantages
- they are 3000 miles from home. Supply line is HUGE. They are fighting on someone else’s ground…American’s know their ground......Population: 11 Million in England vs 2 Million in the colonies Colonists are using more guerilla tactics…British are using a Napoleonic strategy. British soldiers are fighting for a paycheck. Colonists are fighting for independence. Americans are much more determined.
- COULD BRITISH HAVE WON?
