- What are the four initial scene survey steps?

4.Mechanism of Injury - What are the three first and most critical steps to the Primary Survey?

Obtain spinal axis control- check
Airway-Modif. Jaw thrust-suction out oral cavity
Breathing-Assess rate and effort
Circulation-Palpate-Radial-BP 80 w/o pulse. Brachial-BP 70 if no pulse.Carotid-BP 60-rate and quality
-Also check capilary refill.
-Control any life threatening bleeding.
-Start CPR if no pulse - What is the next step?
- Examine the abdomen.
- What do you check there?
- -Look for DCAP-BLS,Traecheal Deviation, JVD, Stoma, Med Alert tags(wrist or neck), subcutaneous emphysema(SUB-Q), Step off on cervical vertabrae with exception to C5.
- What do you look there for?
- DCAP-BLS, TIC
- What is examined next?
- The pelvis is examined next.
- What do you examine next?
- You examine the legs and arms next.
- What is done with the legs and arms?
- DCAP-BLS, TIC, CPMS
- What is done after that?
- Transporting descisions.
- How are those descisions made?

"Load and Go" criteria includes the following:
-Altered level of conciousness
-Difficulty with airway or ventilations (Flail chest, Tension Pnuemothorax, Sucking Chest Wound, Airway Obstruction, Respitory Arrest)
-Difficulty with circulation (Signs/Symptoms of shock, Cardiac Tamponade, Full Arrest.) - What else must be done?
- Examine the back.
- How is that done?
- Witha three man team (two to lift the body and one to hold the head C-SPINE), roll the patient to the side, and check DCAP-BTLS and TIC.
- What else is there to do?
- The patient must be transferred to a backboard by rolling the patient back into the supine position onto the backboard, securing proper neck restraints, body restraints, or other approved equipment.
