- Navigation Laws
- A law that stated: all colonial trade was to be carried on English ports and paid duty, and the colonies should not manufacture good which were being produced in England.
- Alien and Sedition Acts
- provided heavy fines and long prison terms for those who defamed by speech, writing, or action the President or the members of Congress. It also authorized the President to order out of the country foreigners who might be considered dangerous to the peace and safety of the U.S.
- Articles of Confederation
- The document provided for a union of the states to be known as the United States of America, but left all real power to the individual states. Did not let the government raise money by taxes, be able to coin money, call troops to enforce the law, or regulate commerce.
- Anti-Catholicism

- Battle of Yorktown
- Washington, Greene, and Lafayette combined forces and took over Cornwallis and his troops in Yorktown.
- Judicial Review
- means that when Congress passes a law, the Supreme Court has the power to decide whether it is Constitutional or not.
- Father Junipero Serra
- A Franciscan Father who created many missionaries in California.
- Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions
- Resolutions that declared the Naturalization, Alien, and Sedition laws contrary to the Constitution, and declaring these laws void inside their border.

- John Marshall
- The fourth Chief Justice. Under his power the Supreme Court gained power of Judicial Review.
- Treaty of Paris
- The treaty that stated: Great Britain acknowledged the independence of the United States of America, Florida was returned to Spain, the Continental Congress was to recommend that states and property taken from English subjects be returned, and the Mississippi river was fixed as the western boundary of the new nation.
- Whisky Rebellion
- A rebellion caused by a tax on distilled liquor and wine.
