- Prokaryotic
- A cell without a nucleus.
- Fungi
- Organisms made up of eukaryotic cells, including molds, mushrooms, and yeasts. They can be single celled or multicellular. They release chemicals into the environment to digest food that is absorbed by the cells of the body. Some are decomposers.
- Archea
- Microorgansims that tolerate extremely harsh living conditions.
- Protists
- This very diverse, "odds and ends" kingdom is made up of eukaryotic cells. They can be unicellular or multicellular. They may be plant-like, animal-like or fungus-like.
- Plants
- Eukaryotic, multicellular organisms that can make their own food using sunlight energy. Their ability to move is limited.
- Vertebrates
- Animal groups with a backbone.
- Microorganisms
- Organisms that can be seen with a microscope.
- Animals
- Eukaryotic, multicellular organisms that must consume other organisms for energy. They are recognized by their ability to move and to respond to changes in their environment.
- Eukaryotic
- An organism that has cells with a clearly visible nucleus.
- Vascular system
- A system of tubes designed to transport water in plants.
- Bacteria
- Microscopic, single-celled organisms that lack a nucleus (prokaryotic). They are found in all environments. Many are decomposers in ecosystems.
- Invertebrates
- An animal without a backbone.
